Stock Plot Design
This page outlines the process of creating the stock plot for the Taher Theatre, located in the American International School of Bucharest. Up above is the new lighting plot Ofir created; it features a key on the left hand side and is colour-coded for the students. The side FOH bars (2&3) throw light at a 45 degrees angle, and the centre FOH (2&3) bars throw light directly towards the stage, making sure the stage is well lit from all areas. The FOH bars also feature a number of LED Pars, and the MAC 700 Profile Ext.
FOH 1 features a number of Fresnels which are primarily helping blend in the light from the front of house Source 4's, together creating a well-lit stage without any dark spots. FOH 1 also features two birdies that are easily accessed and can be used as specials.
LX 1, 2 & 3 feature most of the Fresnels and a number of specials, including strobe fixtures and special effects. The specials on LX 1 and 2 can be accessed easily by students, as well as the Fresnels that are the main source of top light.
LX 3 features a line of coloured floods that are angled towards the audience. LX 3 can be raised or lowered, depending on the type of the production. For theatrical productions it is recommended to keep LX 3 up and not visible to the audience, therefore using it for some fill in colour from the back. However, for talent shows or live music events it is recommended to lower LX 3 and use the Floods as blinders.
Lastly we have 2 Follow-Spots, each one featuring 4 coloured gels on hand and the Cyc bar, holding 16 fixtures that feature different Cyc colours and can be accessed easily from the catwalk or lowered to the stage level. Below is a sketch of what the previous stock plot looked like, and some pictures of the new stock plot in action.
